Acne Treatment in Novi, MI: What You Need to Know
Acne is one of the most common skin conditions in the United States, yet it is also one of the most undertreated. Many patients in Novi spend years cycling through drugstore products before consulting a dermatologist, often allowing the condition to progress and increasing the risk of long-term scarring. A board-certified dermatologist can assess the type and severity of your acne and recommend a targeted treatment plan rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
At Farmington Dermatologists, acne treatment begins with a thorough evaluation of your skin, your history, and any previous treatments you have tried. Dr. Baird, a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine and a former Chief Resident at Henry Ford Hospital, brings over 20 years of experience in medical dermatology to each consultation. Treatment options may include topical prescription medications, oral antibiotics, hormonal therapies, or in-office procedures such as chemical peels in Farmington Hills, which may help reduce acne activity and improve skin texture over time. For patients dealing with post-acne concerns, additional cosmetic services may also be discussed. Dr. Baird’s approach is educational and transparent: he will explain your options clearly so you can make an informed decision about your care. Individual results may vary.
Are You a Candidate for Acne Treatment?
Acne treatment at Farmington Dermatologists may be a good fit for a wide range of patients from Novi and surrounding areas. You do not need to have severe cystic acne to benefit from professional care. Many patients who seek treatment have mild to moderate breakouts that have not improved with over-the-counter solutions, or they are experiencing adult acne that began or worsened in their 20s, 30s, or beyond.
You may be a strong candidate for professional acne treatment if you:
Have persistent breakouts that do not respond to OTC cleansers or spot treatments
Are experiencing cystic or nodular acne that is painful or deep under the skin
Have acne accompanied by post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or early scarring
Are dealing with hormonal acne that flares in patterns related to your cycle or stress
Have tried multiple products without lasting improvement
Want a personalized treatment plan rather than a generic protocol
Professional acne treatment may help reduce the frequency and severity of breakouts, minimize the appearance of existing blemishes, and support healthier-looking skin over time. If you are ready to stop guessing and start a plan that is designed for your skin, contact our office to schedule a consultation with Dr. Baird.
What to Expect at Farmington Dermatologists
One of the most common concerns patients from Novi share before their first dermatology appointment is not knowing what will happen or whether their acne is “bad enough” to warrant professional care. At Farmington Dermatologists, every new patient is welcomed without judgment, regardless of where they are in their acne journey.
Your first visit will begin with a comprehensive consultation. Dr. Baird will review your skin health history, examine your current breakouts, and ask about factors that may be contributing to your acne, including diet, stress, skincare habits, and any medications you are currently taking. This conversation is unhurried, because Dr. Baird personally sees every patient and is not operating under a quota-driven model.
From there, he will outline a treatment plan tailored to your skin type and goals. Depending on your needs, this may involve prescription topicals, oral medications, or in-office procedures. Most patients find that their skin begins to show improvement within several weeks of beginning treatment, though timelines vary by individual and acne type. Follow-up appointments allow Dr. Baird to monitor your progress and adjust the plan as needed. Patients are encouraged to review dermatology testimonials from patients at Farmington Dermatologists to get a sense of what others have experienced throughout their care. Individual results may vary.
